Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

Care With Every Repair

Our air conditioning services don’t stop at making sure that your home or business is properly heated and cooled. At 1st Response AC and Heating, we care about your indoor air quality (IAQ), too. What can affect the quality of your air and how can it affect your health?

You may think that your air is clean, but there are a number of pollutants present in spaces that you wouldn’t necessarily expect. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) evaporate into the air with the use of paints, harsh chemical cleansers, pesticides, and even air fresheners. Moisture and bacteria cause mold and mildew growth.

If you’re concerned about your air quality, give us a call and set up an appointment for an IAQ test. We will determine whether you’re at risk for poor air quality and recommend solutions for your space. We have the expertise and equipment to make sure that your home or business is safe from airborne allergens, toxins, and other harmful pollutants.

FREE UV Air Cleaner With New HVAC Installation

Keeping your HVAC coils clean from mold and mildew growth is easy with RGF’s patented, high-quality BLU QR® UV stick light

VOCs

If you use or store paints, lacquers, harsh cleaners, furniture wax or polish, mothballs, insect repellant, air fresheners, dry-cleaned clothing, or any other products containing high counts of VOCs, you’re at risk for poor air quality.

You can help yourself when purchasing products for your home by doing some research on low-VOC products, but if you’re concerned about the air quality in your workplace, you may not be able to get rid of the chemicals causing the problem. You may need to consult with 1st Response for an IAQ test and consultation.

Mold, Mildew, and Other Biological Debris

Pets shed dander. Moisture and bacteria cause mold and mildew. Sometimes, no matter how much you seem to clean your home or office, you still find yourself and your family or coworkers sneezing and sniffling. What can you do? You can consult with us about your air quality and how to fix the problem.

IAQ Products

Depending on the pollutants present in your building’s air, you may need to purchase products to assist with improving your air quality. We may recommend that you purchase an air purifier, humidifier, or dehumidifier for your space. We will never recommend an unnecessary purchase, and we are more than happy to go over the reasons you might need one of these products with you.

We recommend RGF’s BLU QR® UV Stick Light. The patented BLU QR® economically provides UV light disinfection and protection to the AC coil surfaces from mold and mildew growth. This results in a cleaner and more efficient energy-saving air conditioning system. Available with 1 or 2 year lamp options. Both models come standard with RGF’s Countdown Day Timer that provides visual indication when UV lamp replacement is needed.

Air Purifiers

Air purifiers work in a number of ways to remove pollutants from the air in your space. A filtration system will filter out pollutants based on their size by trapping them in an air filter or filters. Most homes with central heating and air have filters in place. We offer maintenance and replacement services for these filters, as well as installation of new filtration systems.

Other air purification systems use ultraviolet light, thermodynamic sterilization, and other methods.

Whole Home Humidifiers and Dehumidifiers

Mold and mildew problems are most often caused by an excess of water vapor in the air. Simply killing off the mold colony and removing mildew can alleviate the air quality problem for a time, but if the mold and mildew return because the area is too humid, you’ll have the same problem all over again. Using a dehumidifier can treat the cause of the problem, rather than just treating the symptoms.

By the same token, a room that is too dry can feel colder than it actually is. It causes dry itchy skin, shock you when you touch something, damages furniture and wood floors, and respiratory issues. If you have a room that’s too dry, a humidifier can improve your air quality greatly..
